Delete Your Account

You can permanently delete your MentorTalk account and all associated data directly from the app. We take your privacy seriously and will process your request promptly.

How to Delete Your Account

1. Open the MentorTalk app and go to Settings → Delete Account.
2. Review the summary of data that will be deleted and acknowledge the wallet balance forfeiture.
3. Check "I understand and want to continue" and confirm deletion.
4. Your account will be scheduled for deletion immediately.

Grace Period

After requesting deletion, you have 30 days to cancel your request by logging back into the app. If you log in during this period, your deletion request will be automatically cancelled and your account will be fully restored. After 30 days, deletion is permanent and irreversible — your account and all associated data will be permanently removed.

Wallet Balance

Any remaining mentee wallet balance will be permanently forfeited upon account deletion. MentorTalk operates a closed-loop prepaid wallet — balances cannot be withdrawn to a bank account. Please use your balance before requesting deletion. Any pending mentor payouts will be processed before the account is deleted.

Active Sessions

If you have an active mentoring session at the time of the request, your deletion will be scheduled to begin after the session is completed and billed.

Data That Will Be Deleted

Upon account deletion, the following data will be permanently removed:

• Profile Information: Name, phone number, date of birth, gender, profile photo, bio, username, and education details.
• Verification Documents: Aadhaar verification status, selfie photographs, uploaded certificates, and PAN card details.
• Session History: Chat messages, audio and video session records, and session metadata.
• Financial Data: Wallet balance, earnings history, and payout records (subject to retention requirements below).
• Preferences: Availability settings, communication preferences, language selections, and category selections.
• Device Data: Push notification tokens and device information.
• Support History: Support chat messages and ticket history.

Data That May Be Retained

Certain data may be retained after account deletion as required by applicable law:

• Transaction Records: Financial transaction details are retained for a period of 8 years as required under Indian tax and accounting regulations (Income Tax Act, 1961 and GST Act, 2017).
• Legal Compliance: Any data required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements may be retained for the duration required by law.

Important Notes

• Account deletion is permanent and irreversible after the 30-day grace period. You will not be able to recover your account or any associated data.
• Deleting the MentorTalk app from your device does not delete your account. You must follow the steps above to delete your account and data.
• Reviews you have written will be anonymised (your name removed) but the review content and rating may be retained to maintain platform integrity.
• If you are both a mentee and a mentor, deleting your account from one app does not affect the other. You must delete from each app separately.
