JEE Main 2026: Exam Dates (Out),Admit Card, Syllabus, Pattern, Eligibility & More

Application Procedure

1. Register

  • Visit the JEE portal official website and click on New Registration.
  • Enter basic details, create a password, and note your Application Number.

2. Identity Verification

  • Enter Aadhaar / other ID details for verification.
  • Resolve any mismatch using options provided by the exam authority.

3. Fill Application Form

  • Enter personal, contact, and educational details.
  • Select paper(s) / course(s) you are applying for (e.g., Paper 1, Paper 2).
  • Choose exam cities / centres as per instructions.

4. Upload Documents

  • Photograph (with specified background, size and format).
  • Signature.
  • Qualifying exam certificate / mark sheet.
  • Category / PwD certificate (if applicable).
  • Any other required documents in the specified format and size.

5. Pay Examination Fees

  • Pay via Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, UPI or other allowed modes.
  • After successful payment, download and save the Confirmation Page.
NOTE

The entire process is usually online; physical documents are typically not sent to the authority unless specifically asked.

Application Correction

  • Fill the form carefully to avoid errors.
  • The exam authority may open a correction window for a limited time.
  • Only specific fields may be editable.
  • Corrections are allowed online only; no changes accepted via post, email, phone, or in person.

Exam Slot & Centre Allocation

  • Candidates may or may not be allowed to choose an exact date / shift (depends on exam).
  • Centre, date, and shift are generally allotted by the authority using computer software.
  • Preference is given to choices, but a different city / centre may be allotted for administrative reasons.

Admit Card

  • Released a few days before the exam as per the schedule.
  • Download from the official website using:
    • Application Number, and
    • Password / Date of Birth.
  • Contains:
    • Candidate name, photo & signature
    • Exam date & time
    • Address of test centre
    • Candidate details and instructions
    • Valid photo ID requirement
  • Printed Admit Card must be carried to the exam.
  • Admit cards are generally not sent by post.

Test Centres & City Intimation

  • Candidates select preferred exam cities while filling the form.
  • The authority may:
    • Merge centres / cities if there are few candidates.
    • Change the allotted city for logistical / administrative reasons.
  • A city intimation slip (or similar) may be released before admit cards to inform candidates of the allotted city.

Candidate Responses & Answer Keys

  • Candidate responses recorded in the exam are made available on the official website.
  • They can usually be viewed / downloaded / printed for a limited time.
  • Candidates should save a copy for future reference.

Answer Keys

  • Provisional answer key is released after the exam.
  • If allowed, candidates can challenge any answer within the given deadline, often by paying a per-question fee.
  • After considering challenges, the authority publishes the final answer key, which is used for result preparation.

Result & Score

  • Results are declared as:
    • Scores / Percentiles / Ranks depending on exam format.
  • The result may include:
    • Subject-wise scores
    • Overall score / percentile
    • All India Rank / Category Rank (if applicable)
  • For multi-session exams, the best or normalized score may be used for ranking.
  • Scorecards are downloadable only and are usually not sent by post.
